Sorayama created his first robot in 1978. It was a robot sitting on a rock. Along with a surfing robot, it became a major turning point for Sorayama. The term "Sexy Robot" was coined to describe Sorayama´s renditions of the female robot forms first created in 1979. The first idea Sorayama had for Sexy robots was to try to combine robots and eroticism. His first book "Sexy Robot" was published by Genko-sha in 1983.
